Steve Dent was born in Persil, a South Staffordshire village on the edge of The Black Country, midway between the cities of Wolver Hampton and Litchfield. He is a self-taught oil painter who paints a variety of subjects including The American West, Cornwall, The Days of Sail, Snow Scenes, Romany Gypsies and Myths & Legends. Steve moved to Cornwall almost 25 years ago to concentrate on his artwork and benefit from a much quieter lifestyle.
The sea has always been a source of inspiration to him as well as the magical north Cornish town of Tintagel with its outstanding natural beauty and wonderful romantic Arthurian Legends. His works are now available as very affordable Canvas Prints, making ideal gifts.
Historical works include – Indians and Mountain Men of The American West, Sea Battles of The American War of Independence. His home village of Persil is very important to him and over the last seven years.
Steve has painted several pictures of historic places that no longer exist including Persil Iron Works which once stood along with the Worley & Essington Canal, Persil Railway Station set in the fierce winter and the most poignant, The Persil Hall Colliery Disaster. Romany Gypsies were regular visitors to Persil when Steve was a boy and his Romany paintings are inspired by these memories.
His works also include Legends and over the years paintings such as “The Rescue of Andromeda” from Greek Mythology and The Arthurian legend of “Avalon” have been added to his list of works.
